Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington
I believe the Will that is filed is not the correct Will
In Sept. my brother passed away and I have a couple of questions. In 1999 after his wife passed away my brother told me that he had made out a new Will and said that the estate would split 3 ways, myself and 2 nieces of his wifes. At that time my brother lived in another state then moved here. The younger niece moved in with my brother. She shared his bank account and safty deposit box. After his death the niece took his Will to a lawyer. Sometime later we got a copy of the Will. The Will that was filed is 23 years old. After some research I found the law firm that he had used in the other state and after many unreturned calls I was able to talk with his lawyer. She said she would look into the matter and get back with me. She did later that day and said there was only the older Will. For some reason I didn't believe her. She said that a copy of that 23 year old Will had been mailed to the niece. Wow his Will was in there safty deposit box right here. How can I be certain there is no other Will?
Also my other brothers and myself paid for all of his expences and want to know how to get paid back. The lawyer that the niece hired no longer is on the case and he was billed twice. The nieces have been appointed Administrators. Thanks

You need to go find your own lawyer and retain their services to get this straightened out.
It is possible that the 1999 will never actually happened, thus the older one is the valid one. It is odd that he told you there was a new one and then it does not exist. Hard to know where the disconnect happened from your facts.
If you hire counsel that person can assist you in determining if you are a creditor of the estate and can help you make a claim, if applicable.
Best wishes for your sucessful resolution of this matter. Powell
