Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington
Will
I live in the state of WA. I don't have the money to go to a lawyer. If I wrote out what I wanted done with my things, would it be a legal document? I'm going for surgery.

Re: Will
You don't have to go to a lawyer to do a will. You just have to fulfill the the formalities, the essence of which is: You have to state that you are of sound and disposing mind, not acting under any threat, revoking all previous wills and codicils, then acknowledge your heirs, make your bequests, appoint a personal representative and sign the will before two witnesses (not taking under the will) who attest you appear to be competent and that they saw you sign the will.

Mr. Steuart addressed this properly. I would add that the witnesses signatures should be notarized. Powell
