Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington
For several years before she died, my mother said she wanted my brother and sister in law to have her car. She never put it in writing. Our DMV (Washington state) said they need a copy of the will showing this was her intention. Is there a way around this, perhaps buying the car from the estate?

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your mom.
What does the Will say about the car? Who gets mom's personal property according to the will?
You have to follow the will; the words in the will are mom's intentions according to the law and override whatever she said while she was alive. These things happen.
Good luck.
