Dispute about what is owed
My Fiancee bought a truck from a buy here pay here place. We have all reciepts and figure we owe about $1000 the owner of the carlot says that we owe $1400 and will not sit down and talk with us. He says that we owe this money because the person working for him stole it. What can we do?

That is complete bull. You might consider filing suit if forced to do so. I would be happy to consult with you or refer you to someone if you like.

I am only licensed in Virginia, but make SURE you get a West Virginia attorney to look at this.
There is no way, under Virginia law, that you are responsible for the seller's employee stealing money from the seller. That is his problem.
I suspect it might be more complicated than that.
I don't know if you can record conversations in WV, but have several witnesses listening on the phone or when you go there, in case he admits this.
And get a WV attorney to look at that. If you gave the money to the seller company, what happens after that is not your responsibility. But get someone in WV to look at it.
I am writing because far too many people just let things drop without getting legal advice in their State.
