Is it legal to sell a gun to a person with a criminal record?

It depends. Assuming you are otherwise not prohibited from selling a particular firearm, you are only violating the law if you knowingly sell to a prohibited person. If you do in fact know that the person is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior felony or domestic violence conviction and his right to possess a gun has not been restored then you could be criminally liable if you sell him the gun.
You also fail to say whether you a are a licensed dealer required to have conducted a background check or simply a selling a gun you hasppen to own.
