I've been divorced since 2002, in my final divorce hearing, my lawyer took it upon himself to waive MY alimony. I felt as though I was under duress by him and the family lawmaster. I was married to my husband for over 16 years, I feel that I deserve alimony and I feel that the courts in Fayetteville screwed me over in this matter. I've been struggling financially since my divorce and had I been given the alimony that I deserve, I strongly feel that I would not be living in hardship as I am.

Back in 2006, I filed to take my ex husband back into court to obtain alimony, I later received a letter stating that alimony was waived and could not be obtained. However, the letter also stated that I could take my case to Supreme Court, but there would be a filing fee of $285.00; I was unemployed, I had no savings and my credit was already in the toilet. Therefore, I had no resources to take any further action. I have a decent job now, but my credit is still in the toilet and I'd like to purchase myself a home. I feel that if I had been represented properly in my divorce, I would not be suffering from financial hardship as I have been for the last seven (7) years. Is there any hope in overturning the court's manipulative actions?

It sounds as though you may have a legitimate claim. However, as I'm not licensed to practice in your state, I would strongly recommend that you seek legal counsel there to assist you.
