Legal Question in Family Law in West Virginia

Obtaining Legal Help

I am a disabled veteran and am facing a divorce in which my soon to be x-wife has retained a lawyer to attempt to take my home and get custody of our child, as well as child support. She has used my daughters ssn mony for her own personal use and for the last 12 years, though we have only been married for 8 yrs., not paid a single utility, house payment or any other expenses in our marriage. Now She wants everything I have and have paid for leaving me with no money and no way to get any. If I don't pay my bills I lose everything, but if I don't pay an attorney to help me I will still lose everything. Though I receive approx. $2400.00 per month it all goes to bills and supporting my family. Do I have any options on how to get legal help, all tyhe lawers I have talked to want at least $2000.00 up front to handle this, or am I destined just to lose all I have worked for? Though my wife has three college degrees which she obtained gecause of my veterans benifits, she has not worked a day in our marriage, but does have a father with more than enough money to destroy me, I have no one. Is there any way for me to get assistance?

Re: Obtaining Legal Help

Dear disable veteran,

We are attorney only licensed in Dominican Republic therefore we cannot assist you directly, but we can give you a couple of hints to try to solve your case.

You might want to check with your local bar association at http://www.legalexplorer.com/lawyer/lawyer-notafford.asp

they will provide you with a lawyer who can assist you with your case on pro-bono basis. Be assured to ask for it.

Also you might want to check with this group who claims to assist Veterans in your area. http://www.war-veterans.org/Stddwn.htm

Good luck.
