Legal Question in Family Law in West Virginia

owed interest on child support

My ex husband owes me approximately $20,000 in interest on the back child support. He is now being pursued for back support from another woman he had a child with some 15 years ago & she is just now trying to get anything from him. My children although ages 25 & 27 now were his first children. He wants me to have the court to stop all payments to me so he can afford to pay this other woman. Being as this is only interest now, what should I do? I feel he should pay me first since this other woman did not want anything from him until now & He was usually behind on my payments just recently paying off the main support amount. He says he will take me back to court if I don't agree to drop this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: owed interest on child support

People in hell want ice water. Doesn't mean they get it. He can take you back to court if he wants, and the court might even give him some relief since the other child is not yet 18, but that doesn't mean you need to agree to it, and it doesn't mean that if the court grants him any relief it will continue beyond the time the other child reaches age 18. You are not the one needing legal help -- HE is.
