Wage Garnishment

I was found guilty of hazing in Morgantown, WV in 1999. I was subsequently found guilty in a related civil suit. Are the wages that I earn in the state of Virginia subject to garnishment?

A civil judgment is enforceable for 10 years in West Virginia. It could remain a lien on real property in West Virginia for longer with the recording of subsequent and timely Writs of Execution. A West Virginia judgment is not enforceable in Virginia without domesticating the judgment in Virginia first, that is, a suit must be brought in Virginia asking the judge to convert the West Virginia judgment to a Virginia judgment. Thereafter, Virginia collection law applies.

yes, if the judgement is valid; however, the judgement creditor will probably have to have the judgment docketed in Va. first.
