Legal Question in Employment Law in West Virginia

Is there any recourse I can take after being fired?

I had a substance abuse problem in 1989, went to rehab and continued to work as an lpn until this past June. One year ago, we had drugs missing, I was called in given a urine drug screen and it came back positive, though I had legal rx's for this, was suspended. Now for the present problem. I lost a ring in a needle box and was searching for and let some supervisors in housekeeping know about it. I was called in by my supervisor, told to stop, but asked the guys in housekeeping if they would search, they said yes. Stopped by on my day off to see if anything had been found and a security guard seen me in the biohazard area. I was fired for a safety violation of being in an unauthorized area. Now--Before I was fired, in fact the day they were going to suspend me or whatever, I injured my back and neck, I'm on wc at the present. After what they said was an investigation, almost one month later, they called me in and fired me. Now I have no insurance, even though my union book states that''The hospital will continue its portion of health insurance premiums and coverage for employees drawing temporary total disability benefits under WV worker's compensation provisions. Please help!! Carolyn
