Legal Question in Real Estate Law in West Virginia

transfer of assets

My father died leaving his estate to me. The deadline for claims to be filed against the estate has ended and no claims were received. The fiduciary supervisor sent me a notice that I must transfer all assets from the decedents name into my name prior to the estate closing. He left a small savings account and three adjoining, but separate pieces of land (one with a house on it). To transfer assets, do I simply go to the bank and change the account name to my name? How do I transfer the property to my name?

Re: transfer of assets

If what is left to do, re administration of your deceased' father's estate, for both matters, is of a clerical nature, suggest that you:

Go to the Bank and Ask the bank officer/s what documents and process they need, in order for you to make the changes proposed; and

Ask your attorney, "fiduciary supervisor," or the County Clerk, in Deeds & Records, in the County of where the real property is, what documents and process is required to affect the proposed changes.

Then follow instructions as required.

Good luck,
