Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in West Virginia

Final Settlement

My mother passed away a few years back. According to my father she left him everything and her three children were not entitled to anything regarding her estate. I am a little confused as to why I am being asked to sign a wavier of final settlement. I am noted along with my sister and brother as beneficiaries of this estate, my father is noted as acting fiduciary on this document. What does this wavier mean? There is a clause in the decription which states that all beneficiaries have been advised of thier share or shares to which each is entitled from the estate. We received a copy of her will and her trust estate. Can you help me understand this?

Re: Final Settlement

It is impossible to give you any meaningful answeres without reviewing the documents. You should contact an attorney in the county in which your father lived at the time of his death. If that was in my area, please feel free to call.

Re: Final Settlement

Your header suggests that you are asking about W. Va. law and since Georgia lawyers won't know that I suggest you re-ask in the W. Va. area of this board.

If he died in Georgia, let us know so we can follow up here.

Don't sign anything until talking to a lawyer.
