Appeal on a judgement
How do I file an appeal without the help of an
attorney? or at least get it started while I find and
attorney that can help me? I was representing myself
and the opposing attorney and the judge ruled in favor
of the opposing party through the mail without my
knowledge . We were to go to trial shortly before I
learned that the court and the opposing party had
already made a ruling. I learned this when a
collection agency for the plaintiff contacted me. NOW
I learned I can appeal this decision and do not have
much money. I need to at least file the first papers
to appeal...but how? I believe the appeal needs to be
filed by Feb 9, 2002. Where do I ge

If you have been convicted and sentenced, you have 20 days to file a Notice of Intent to Pursue Post Conviction Relief. Call the clerk of courts to see if they have a form. If you had trial counsel - they should perform this function. If not, it is very simple matter - a 1 page document. Most attorneys could help for a very minimal cost I am sure.
