Legal Question in Banking Law in Wisconsin
Bank cleared a check from a fraudulent account but now wants me to pay it back. I was tricked into an online job - they sent me a check to pay for hardware, and the bank gave me a letter stating the funds wouldnt be available for a few days. I waited and they posted the money to my account, which I sent to the fake job vendor. Now the bank finds the check account was closed and am demanding I pay the money back

It's horrible the banks can't figure out after so many years how to prevent these scams from happening. The government has a dozen agencies overseeing banking operations in the US, and yet don't enact any regulations to require banks to do anything to protect people from getting scammed. In any event I don't know what can be done here; sorry.
Good luck
