can i be sued if a check for illegal services didn't clear?
I wrote a guy a check for illegal substances. The check came back denied about a month later. He is threating to take me to court. Does he have any legal recourse?

No. A check for illegal services need not be valid. HOWEVER, it is fairly conclusive proof of criminal activity. So, either of you taking it to court are open to prosecution.
