Building owner files bankruptcy and owes me $35k
I have been doing work for a building owner over the past several months and he just filed BK. I'm owed $35,000. What recourse do I have?

You could explore the possibility of filing an adversary action to try to get the judge to rule the debt non-dischargeable based on one of any enumerated grounds in the Bankruptcy Code. You'll have to consult with a bankruptcy attorney in detail to see if the situation would provide a sufficient factual basis for doing that.
