Credit Card Lawsuits--Attempting to Settle for Reduced Percentage
Anyone who is being sued for any reason owes it to themselves to briefly discuss their situation with an experienced bankruptcy lawyer. Although one such company may be willing to negotiate, doing so may prove to be a waste of money and time unless ALL creditors also settle (assuming that you have enough money to settle with all of them). If you settle with one creditor only to subsequently be sued by a different one, requiring you to file bankruptcy regardless of the earlier settlement, you have not helped yourself and have more of less thrown away the money you paid to the first creditor. Successful settlements with all creditors in this fashion are rare for consumers with multiple financial problems, meaning the piecemeal settlements with a few of them are ill advised. These comments are not intended to create an attorney client relationship or be used as legal advice. Instead, you really need to locate your own lawyer and discuss all this with him. Good luck!
