Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Wisconsin
Should I file Bankruptcy
Recently I had my checkbooks stolen from the mail and of course this person went on ahopping spree leaving me with all the debt. My bank doesn't really have any solutions expect to fill out the forgery forms and file a police report. These businesses want their money and I don't have that to give them. Will filing a police report be help enough or would it be better to file bankruptcy? And would a name change before this is taken care of legal or should i wait until after this matter is resolved? thank you

Re: Should I file Bankruptcy
Your first concern should be possible criminal charges
against you for all the bad checks passed by the thief.
You will probably be charged with passing worthless
checks or some other sort of fraud unless you can
convince the authorities that someone else did it.
The theft/forgery report is a necessary first step.
If the creditors persist in coming after you, bankruptcy
could be convenient option to get rid of them. In other
words, you may need to both report the theft and go
bankrupt.
