All bankruptcy attorney fees are subject to court approval. However, most districts have set up "safe harbor" amounts for various types of cases for which court approval is not required. In consumer chapter 7 cases, market competition effectively sets fees in routine matters at lower amounts than the maximums which would be approved under such guidelines. In complex cases, such as chapter 11 corporate filings, fees tend to be much higher, but are also subject to court oversight if they are being paid from the bankruptcy debtor's funds. Directly answering your question, however, there is no maximum that any attorney can charge, subject to these limitations.
