Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Wisconsin

I recently filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy and my debts were discharged. I am still receiving a bill from Waukesha Health and Human Services, one of the debts that was included when I filed. How can I find out if the debt was actually included in the discharge?

You need to inform your lawyer of this problem. Assuming that the debt was incurred before the date when your bankruptcy was filed, he or she may be able to threaten the creditor with sanctions, sometimes regardless of whether the creditor was properly listed in no asset bankruptcies. My office performs this service for our clients for minimal additional fees, but if the creditor persists in pursuing a discharged claim, you may be able to sue them for reimbursement of any attorney fees which you incurred in order to enforce the bankruptcy discharge. In severe cases, the bankruptcy court can even impose punitive damages against an incorrigible creditor. My comments here are not legal advice, nor do they create an attorney client relationship between us. However, you always more than welcome to contact my office to discuss additional questions which you may have or to set up a free consultation at my office in Racine for further clarification of my response.
