Legal Question in Business Law in Wisconsin
Irish Dance Dress Scam
My daughter meghan is an irish dancer and was getting a dress made by Lisa Gandre (WI dressmaker). Lisa sent a measurement guideline and contract via e mail and we completed it and signed with the required $500 downpayment. She then said she would have a slip for fitting next week (july) and the dress was to be completed by January 2005. Then she wasnt responding to any communication and so we filed small claims court to receive a refund. She finally responded saying that the $500 was to be returned on or before Dec. 3 2004--it was not. what should we do? she doesnt respond to phone e mail or anything/ she is in wisconsin and we are in TN.

Re: Irish Dance Dress Scam
You are probably going the right route with a small claims action. Legal fees to handle this would not be economical for you. You may have trouble, since you are out of state, and an appearance may be necessary. Perhaps you could schedule it when you are in the area. Good Luck!
