Legal Question in Business Law in Wisconsin

I live in Chippewa County Wisconsin. I have a very close friend who owns his own business. He had an employee who reassign the business phone number to himself and then when he moved on, opened his own business and used my friends number along with thousands of dollars of my friends shop equipment and tools. He has since changed the name of his business to a name that is one letter different than my friends business name. This guy even forged my friends signature to reassign the phone number using his own social security number. What can I do to get this number back to my friend? He has had the same number for 30 years and now has lost 30 years of customers to this guy.

Any attorney will say you can't do anything for your friend (unless your an attorney); your friend needs to take action himself. He should begin by contacting the phone company, reporting the forgery and fraudulent transfer of the number and requesting it back. He may also consider contracting the authorities if equipment and tools were stolen. Finally, he may have a legal action against this departed employee for any money he has made based on what's happened here. Consult with a good business attorney in your area for specific advice.
