Legal Question in Business Law in Wisconsin
Non- Return of security deposit
I was wondering if it is legal to not return a security deposit that was given a month ago. i have decided not to rent from the location because i was never informed i had an apartment or one was being ''held'' for me until i mentioned i wanted my check back. i was required to turn it in in order to even get an apartment. i cannot put a stop payment on the cahiers check for another 60 days and wondering what my options are or if i just have to take them to small claims court.

Re: Non- Return of security deposit
Until you and the landlord arrived at a contract, you were entitled to a full refund of any money you deposited with the landlord. Since the amount is probably small, it may not pay to hire an attorney. You may have to go the small claims route. Good Luck.
