Legal Question in Business Law in Wisconsin
Non-Profit Entities
Can you transfer registration of a non-profit entity to another state? The articles of incorporation have previously been registered in a different state. Originally in the State of Virginia and want to transfer to Wisconsin.

Re: Non-Profit Entities
Off the top of my head, I'd say it should be able to be done, but isn't as simple as "transferring" the entity from one state to the other. You may have to set up a new Wisconsin entity, and get the appropriate non-profit designations you want to match the Virginia entity. Once that's done, I think you could merge the two, with the Wisconsin one surviving. It is more work that it would seem. Good luck!
