trying to get my dog back or money
Bought and paid for a dog, but my ex-roomate will not give it back. she has the dog registered in her name. she says that i gave her the dog. That was never said. i told her i was going to take her to court.she said that she paid for all the vet visits.but i gave her money for all those visits when we lived together.
i either want my dog back, or the money that i paid for the dog. which was a great amount

If you cannot resolve this issue with your x-roommate, I think your only other alternative would be to sue in small claims court. You will need to provide any documentation that you can as to your purchase of the dog and your paying for the other bills. It will then come down to your ability to prove your case to a judge or jury that you did not give the dog to her as a gift, and that the dog is legally yours. I am concerned that if she had the dog registered in her name as the owner, she will have some strong evidence that you gave her the dog and that she is the rightful owner. Much will depend upon the credibility of each of you and whether each of you has documentation or testimony from others as to who the rightful owner of the dog might be. You can pursue a case such as this in small claims court, without an attorney, and the limit of recovery in small claims court is $5000.00.
