Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Wisconsin

Can I drop charges on a filing for a restraining order?

I filed for a restraining order with the courthouse. I then had to file a report with the police dept. Then they found boyfriend was on bond and they have put a warrant for his arrest. I realized that it was just a stupid fight we got in and I want to drop the charges...can I do this or is it up to the courts? He is going to turn himself in today. I also went in to try to fix this myself and told the police that I was lying when I made the report- which i wasnt - when - all I should have said was I wanted to drop the charges. Help...

Stop playing games and using the court system to get back at your boyfriend.

There are thousands of women who are brutalized and NEED restraing orders every day, and when you file complaints and trivialize the process, THEY (whch could be you next time) suffer.

You can retract your statements, but if the police caught him and he had a warrant outstanding, it's out of your hands. When you admitted to the police that you lied, they should have charged YOU with filing a false police report. Consider yourself lucky, if they don't.
