Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Wisconsin
Handgun in the Trunk
I handled some handguns inside my trunk in a public location after a friend and I had just been at a local sportsmen club of which I am a member. Someone witnessed me handling these handguns and called the police. I was consequently arrested. The handguns were never charged and never left the trunk of the vehicle. Am I guilty of a crime and if so which one? I have been charged with Disorderly Conduct while Armed. This sounds extreme but I am unfamiliar with the law and this may be perfectly reasonable assessment but I am unsure. I would appreciate any advice anyone can offer. My initial court appearance is 6/19.

You should have hired a lawyer before today. It's a bit late to ask about what's going to happen one day before the hearing!
In any event, you plead not guilty at the first hearing and make sure the judge knows you intend to get yourself a lawyer, --if you can't afford one, ask the court to appoint one for you.
