Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Wisconsin
Video taping without permission
My husband works a for the City and a resident was videotaping him while he was doing his work. My husband asked him to stop, but he continued and said it was his right to video tape him as he is a City worker. Can a person video tape you if you do not give them permission.

Re: Video taping without permission
Television studios have made this the feature of the night: public employees on the job to try to catch them doing something wasteful of the taxpayers money.
Essentially, no, your husband cannot stop a citizen from making a record of his activities as a public employee. When he's not at work, however, it could be considered an invasion of privacy.
