Legal Question in Technology Law in Wisconsin

Getting records from internet email accounts to see who is hacking.

I have a friend that suspects someone is hacking into her MSN email account. Is there any way that records can be obtained from Microsoft to get a log of who has been logging into that account by IP address or something like that so we can try to figure out who is doing it?

Probably not without a court order. Your friend should just change his/her password.

Has your friend tried calling Microsoft and asking for the records? There's little sense in getting lawyers involved if she hasn't even made this effort.
