Legal Question in Consumer Law in Wisconsin
Garage Damaged by Neighbors Tree Struck by Lighting
On 10/4 a large portion of the tree fell on and damaged my garage. The initial damage was submitted to my home owners insurance. I paid the $500 deductible. The contractor my neighbor hired to take the remainder of the tree down, caused additional damage to my garage, fence and a ladder when they were cutting down the tree. My neighbor says it is my resonsibility to contact her contractor to get him to repair the damage. 3 telephone conversations in which he gave me a date that he would come, but he never arrived. Is this my responsibility since I did not hire this contractor?

Yes, YOU Have the claim so YOU need to make it against contractor, or submit to your insurance co, since it arises out of same incident.
If your insurer refuses, sue BOTH contractor and your neighbor and the insurance companies who arR SUPPOSED to cover these things.
