Legal Question in Consumer Law in Wisconsin
Painter over charge from estimate
My painter submitted an
estimate for $1000, we and
him signed it, he never said
anything about cost overruns,
and now submitted a bill for
$3150. We did not budget that
amount, nor do we have it.
What can we do?

Re: Painter over charge from estimate
I would need to see your contract (estimate) to advise, but without amendatory language, there would be no basis for additional charges.
Is the painter incorporated or an individual?
Is he licensed?
