Legal Question in Consumer Law in Wisconsin

No Solicitation Sign

I have a ''no soliciting'' sign on my front door which everyone ignores--vacuum cleaner salespeople, kids selling candy, Jehovah's Witnesses, people looking for signatures on petitions, etc. My understanding is that it's illegal for these people to ring my doorbell for ANY reason, if they ''want'' something, even if it's not money, and that they can be fined for ignoring my sign. Is this true? I'm too lazy to wade through the statutes myself, but I was told that even pizza delivery places can't put a menu on my door knob if I have that sign up. I want to be able to tell the next numbskull who ignores the sign what the legal ramifications of ignoring it--if any--are, so that they don't come back. This is a private residence located in Wisconsin. Thank you for any advice you can give!

Many injustices are possible when people do not enforce their rights in court. You could probably sue every one of these solicitor/tresspassers if you wished to. Have you even tried complaining to the authorities?
