Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Wisconsin

Collection procedure

I had a medical procedure done approximately 2 years ago. There was cost for the procedure. I thought that the insurance had paid for it, instead they sent us the money. Now I have a collection agency calling, I have been trying to make payments. Now I have been informed they will turn it over to there lawyer(s) for collection. What happens now?

Re: Collection procedure

I take it that you did not forward the

money paid by your insurance company to

the creditor. Once the account past due

they have the right to use any lawful

collection proceedures authorized in your

jurisdiction. These can include calls from

collection agencies, blemishes on your

credit, and ultimately, litigation. You, of course,

also have rights under relevant laws. Please

feel free to send a private e-mail for more

details.
