Foreclosure of One's Residence in WI, When Eviction can Finally Occur, Bankruptcy Options

While the length of time varies depending upon the type of property, the residential foreclosure process in WI usually takes eight to twelve months (and sometimes longer) in WI prior to the time when the owner can finally be evicted from his or her primary residence following a foreclosure. The borrower/owner is allowed to continue to live in the property until the end of the process, should he or she choose to do so, or even to rent it out and keep the proceeds, provided that the property is not being damaged or harmed. However, a foreclosure can actually be reversed and the loan reinstated via a chapter 13 bankruptcy once a borrower is again able to resume the payments. You therefore owe it to yourself to at least have a conversation with an experienced bankruptcy attorney prior to making any important decisions in such a matter.
