length of time to pay a lawyer without a statment sent.

my divorce lawyer has not billed me in 4.5 years and now wants me to pay her interest and the bill. or offer a settlement and she said she would write the rest off for taxes. how long does she have to collect it, how can i find out if she has not used me a a tax write off already.

Statute of Limitations on Account Receivable

The statute of limitations on an account receivable in WI is six years from the date of the last payment. Whether or not a creditor has written off a bad debt on a tax return is irrelevant to its collectability. They simply need to report the income if it is ever paid.
