Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Wisconsin
if a minor child iordered something online, am i, as an adult responsible for all costs including shipping and handling

Sometimes adults can indeed be held liable for intentional and malicious acts of minors in their custody; it is simply part of being a parent. However, there are limits to this liability both under statutes and common law. If the child orders merchandise due to the parents negligent supervision, the parent can be held liable. However, if the minor used credit cards without permission, the parent could file a complaint against the minor for forgery, ID Theft, or fraudulent use of a credit card, which might help you to avoid personal liability and initiate prosecution of the minor.
