Monies Owed to Me

I paid for my boyfriend's storage unit for the 77 months he was incarcerated. The total rent came to $11,935.00. He promptly dumped me upon his release. How do I collect this money now?

If you didn't have a written contract with him, I'm afraid it looks like you have no legal right to claim a reimbursement from him - the money would likely be deemed a "gift" by you to him by a court of law (the statute of limitations would require a written agreement to hold him liable for that amount of money). So you're probably stuck with the bill if he won't pay you back.
