Son's Liability for Credit Card Debt of Mother

Children are not automatically liable for the debts of their parents. However, if they are authorized users on a card or have otherwise benefited from the charges, the lender can sometimes successfully sue them. The same applies to service for the parents which you signed for such as funeral home bills or some medical expenses. You therefore owe it to yourself to consult with an experienced attorney with bankruptcy experience as soon as possible. The attorney can promptly dispute your liability and force the bank to provide support for its claim against the relatives. My comments here are not intended as legal advice to you unless you subsequently retain me and revisit this issue with me afterwards.
