Property seizures for outstanding debts.

i am a divorcee.. father of 4 children of which i owe back child support around $10,000. also student loan debt of $20,000. my parents are wanting to buy me a house and i was wondering if these debtors could take the house away or just put a lein against it?? i tore a disk in my back , have no health insurance , and am unable to find steady employment at this time..

Re: Property seizures for outstanding debts.

A creditor can place a lein against property that is owned by you or that is titled in your name.

If the property is not yours, the creditors will not likely be able to place a lein against it.

However, if the creditors are able to show that you are hiding assetts to avoid paying the creditors, the court may allow them to place a lein on the property.

I would recommend speaking with a local attorney prior to proceeding further in this matter.
