You should examine your contract with your vendor to see if they can revise their charges. Many credit card contracts allow changes virtually any time and for any reason, at the whim of the bank issuing the card. Of course you can be billed for new charges, whether or not they are justifies. In court, however, the enforceability of these charges would be determined by the contract and by application of the principals of contract law, which can sometimes recognize a change in circumstances and other factors justifying a change in charges. Of course, nearly all contractual obligations are dischargeable in bankruptcy, so that is the "trump card" which all consumers hold. Many of the benefits of bankruptcy, however, will dissappear following the effective date of the new bankruptcy reform law in Oct., 2005. If anyone even remotely feels the need to declare bankruptcy, they should take a hard look at doing it prior to Oct., 2005.
