Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Wisconsin

One of my store credit cards is carrying a balance because I took something back after paying for it. In Wisconsin, does the credit card company have to give me a refund?

No, as far as I know, the duties of the store with regard to returned merchandise would be determined by the card holder agreement. If, in order to open the account, you accepted terms in such an agreement specifying that you would only receive store credits for returned merchandise, I believe that the store would be within their rights to insist that those terms be enforced. However, it is impossible to answer your question with any accuracy without reviewing all of the relevant contracts and agreements. Please remember that I am not yet your attorney and will not be taking any action on your case, but you are still welcome to contact me during business hours at my in Racine if you still have more questions.
