Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Wisconsin

being sued for medical ills

I'm being sued for about $30,000 in medical bills. I just recived the summons and I have to send a letter w/in 20 days. I had insurance at the time, but they denied everything. All the information they(the insurance) requested was sent to them and it was still denied. my employer switched companies shortly after and now they won't talk to me. What do I do?

Re: being sued for medical ills

If you agree that the claim against you for medical services rendered is valid, but believe that your health insurance carrier inappropriately refused to pay, then you should hire an attorney and start a third party action against your insurance company.

You must do this IMMEDIATELY or the medical provider will be able to get a judgment against YOU. Technically YOU owe the medical bill and the insurance company is obligated to you to pay the medical bill or to reimburse you for payment. The health care provider cannot sue your insurance company directly, only you can.
