Student Loans--Options for Stopping Collectors

Even though student loans are generally not dischargeable depending upon how old the loan is, some relief from harassment is available via a chapter 13 bankruptcy. Some very old loans can even be discharged in a Chapter 7. If they are not old enough to be dischargeable, any amounts left over on the loans following the bankruptcy will still be owed and can still be collected by the lender.
