Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin

abscounding to another state

my friend was on probation and got pulled over for a 3rd dui..he was arresed and charged with 2 class u misdermeanors. He was released and when he talked to his agent she said she would not revoke him...shortly there after she told him to come in cause they were revoking him. Well, at the time he had a great job making 20 dollars an hour and hadnt been in trouble in over 7 yrs. He had an apt and car and great job and the only thing the agent could come up with was revoking him. Anyway he got scared and left the state. What authority or legal right does the parole agent have once he goes to another state. do they have the athority to go to another state and come get u or do they have to wait intill you commit another crime? Plus what would it cost to have someone represent him if he decides to return and turn himself in?

Probationers Absconding Across State Lines, Extradition of Violators

All states are required to extradite upon the request of the governor of the sentencing state under the U.S. Constitution. This generally occurs on felonies, but it is theoretically possible on misdemeanors as well. Extradition can also be accomplished from most foreign countries back to the U.S. due to international treaties. What your friend needs is an attorney to fight his revocation proceedings in the state which sentenced him to probation. Not knowing which state that is, I could not begin to give you a price estimate for services of this nature. He should also have an attorney to handle his new drunk driving case, since that could cause his probation to be revoked if he is convicted.
