Every bond in a criminal case is "custom made" by the judge for each individual defendant, regardless of the fact that preprinted forms are used. You therefore must read your bond document over in detail before making decisions such as whether you can temporarily leave the state while released on bond. In most misdemeanor cases, however, where the defendant does not have a past record of missing court, such provisions are rare, as long as the person continues to attend all court dates as scheduled and on time. Bonds can also be changed if the proper paperwork is prepared, a hearing scheduled and the changes approved by the judge. Reasonable travel, particularly if required for work, is often allowed, except for offenders whose movements are of particular concern to the judge (and most of them remain in jail, unable to obtain release on bond). If you have a question about your bond or wish to change it, it is therefore essential that you go over these options with your lawyer, or obtain an experienced criminal lawyer if you do not yet have one. These comments are intended solely for public educational purposes and are not legal advice for you. Instead, you need to consult with your own lawyer before making any decisions on what to do next, and be aware that many deadlines for protection of your rights may come and go quickly. You should not delay in obtaining legal advice which is specifically directed towards your particular needs rather than relying upon online forums or blogs.
