Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin
Charged with a crime - giving away assets
Can a person who is charged with a crime (and suspects to be convicted, but does not expect to be also sued in civil court) give away their home or other assets in order to protect them from judgements?
Is their home at risk if they keep it?

Your home is safe in Wisconsin against civil attachment if you have $40,000 or less equity in it - meaning, were you to sell it, you would not clear more than $40,000 (Wisconsin's homestead exemption is $40,000).
