Lifting a No Contect Order

Only a judge can lift a "no contact order" prior to its expiration. Obtaining the judge's permission requires formal legal proceedings in open court with advance notice to opposing parties. Judges rarely lift such orders without proof that the parties can be safely reunited, such as a report from a counseling professional (or a victim support organization such as a women�s resource center or shelter).
