Re: criminal
If youre talking about walking away from a minimum-security correctional facility or a Huber facility (or not returning to a Huber facility when youre supposed to), yes.
Escape Charges
The definition of "escape" has changed in strange and unusual ways over the years to include conduct which would not normally be associated with that term. Certainly, this includes a "walk away" by a person who is on work release or who has been arrested by an officer and told to remain in a specific location. However, it can also include persons who have fail to report to jail on the date of their "appointment" to report. Even for original misdemeanor charges, this can result in a new felony charge. The definition of escape is sufficiently complex that you owe it to yourself to consult with an experienced criminal lawyer to see if you have any defense. My comments here are not intended as legal advice to you unless you subsequently retain me and revisit this issue with me afterwards.
