Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin
Drunk and disorderly violation
I went out with my girlfriend three weeks ago. We got in a little argument so i walked out of the bar and i was really mad at her so i kicked a metal pole. Two police officers came up to me and searched me. I was completely calm I did not refuse it. One of them wrote me a drunk a disorderly ticket. I was not even drunk. When I came home I realized that he made a mistake on a ticket. It says pay by 1/10/06 which was almost a year ago.It should of been 1/10/07. I was wondering if I should fight the ticket. I work as a financial advisor for fortune 500 company and I am goin to law school next fall. I dont want that on my record. Do I even have a chance if i take it to court?

Re: Drunk and disorderly violation
It is always a good idea to contest tickets. In most cases the ticket can be dismissed or reduced. In the atter that you descibe, the date error does not invalidate the ticket.
Nonetheless, it is quite possible that the ticket can be avoided with an agreement to stay prosecution.
