Re: Fake ID

Your Question: Is it illegal to have a fake ID? ____ My answer would be "Yes, it is a serious crime to possess, manufacture or distribute false identification under federal, state and local law. It can even be a felony (such as a forgery related offense) under certain circumstances. ______ Your Question: "What about carrying a real ID that is not you?" Carrying someone else's identification with intent to deceive is also a crime, which can also become a felony under some circumstances (particularly if the ID is stolen). If someone gave you their ID to use, that person can also get into serious trouble. I cannot answer your last question, about "novelty products," without further research. (If you are getting the phrase from a particular statute, I would need the citation before I could begin the research. ) The best advice I can give you for now is to wait until you are 21 or older before you try to enter drinking establishments, and, even then, only do so with a designated driver in your group. Please drink in responsibly (once you are old enough) and good luck!
